Mundra Port Sets New Cargo Handling Records in August

Mundra Port, operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, achieved its highest-ever cargo handling in August 2026, handling 18.60 million metric tonnes of cargo during the month, its highest-ever monthly throughput. The port also recorded its highest monthly container volume, handling 819,046 TEUs.

The port’s rail operations also achieved record levels. On August 29, Mundra handled 7,712 TEUs using 63 container rakes in a single day, comprising 3,476 TEUs of exports and 4,244 TEUs of imports the latter also marking the port’s highest single-day import volume, facilitated by 31 trains.

Mundra Port is expanding its rail infrastructure to improve capacity and reduce train turnaround times. On August 1, the port operated its first long-haul train from Lines 12 and 13 of the R&D Yard, an expansion expected to strengthen multimodal connectivity and support faster cargo movement through the port.
