India’s First 250T Electric Crane Goes Live at HZL Mine

Electric Crane

Hindustan Zinc has deployed India’s first 250-tonne electric crane at its Rampura Agucha mine in Rajasthan, marking a significant step towards sustainable mining operations. The battery-powered crane replaces conventional diesel-powered equipment and is expected to reduce carbon emissions while supporting the company’s clean energy goals.

The new electric crane has been introduced to handle heavy maintenance and material lifting activities at the mine. Along with lowering fuel consumption and operating costs, the equipment is designed to deliver the same lifting performance as traditional cranes while contributing to a cleaner and quieter work environment.

The deployment is part of Hindustan Zinc’s broader strategy to decarbonise its mining operations and increase the use of electric equipment across its facilities. Industry experts believe the move could encourage wider adoption of electric heavy-lifting machinery in India’s mining, infrastructure and industrial sectors as companies work towards achieving their sustainability targets.
