Marsa Maroc has deployed a Liebherr LPS 550 gantry crane at the Port of Casablanca in Morocco to strengthen bulk cargo handling operations. The crane, supplied by Liebherr Afrikas, is the first LPS model to be deployed in Africa.

The rail-mounted crane boasts a lifting capacity of up to 144 tonnes, a lifting height of 45 metres, and a jib measuring 54 metres. This equipment is specifically designed to accommodate various ship classes while ensuring a high lifting capacity for operations at the port.

The Port of Casablanca covers 450 hectares and has eight kilometres of docks that can serve up to 40 vessels. According to Marsa Maroc, the port handled more than 19 million tonnes of freight in 2025.
