VME Material Handling has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of a 130-tonne overhead crane for the Miri Power Plant project in Sarawak, Malaysia. The company’s engineering and installation teams managed all phases of the project while meeting the strict quality and safety requirements associated with power generation facilities.
The newly commissioned crane will support critical lifting operations at the power plant, which is being developed by PETROS. The Miri Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant will have a planned capacity of 500MW and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The facility is designed to use hydrogen-ready turbines and will supply electricity to Northern Sarawak.
VME thanked its client, partners and project team for their cooperation throughout the project. The installation marks another major milestone for the Malaysian crane specialist, which continues to provide lifting and material handling solutions for large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects across the region.
