Indonesia’s Patimban Port has strengthened its container handling capability with the arrival of a Liebherr mobile harbour crane, providing additional capacity as the new gateway continues to expand. The crane will support early container operations while further phases of the port development are being completed.
The new equipment will allow Patimban to handle containers more efficiently and provide additional flexibility during the port’s development. The investment forms part of Indonesia’s wider efforts to establish Patimban as a major maritime gateway and strengthen its position within regional supply chains.
The development offers a relevant example for India as the country continues to expand and modernise its port infrastructure. Deploying modern mobile harbour cranes during the early stages of port development can help bring handling capacity online faster while supporting growing cargo volumes and improving logistics efficiency.
