AMLab Retrofits 20+ STS Cranes at Major Asian Terminal

AMLab

AMLab has successfully completed the retrofit of more than 20 ship-to-shore (STS) cranes at a major container terminal in Asia, helping modernise the port’s cargo handling infrastructure. The upgrade was carried out to improve crane performance, increase operational reliability, and extend the equipment’s service life.

According to AMLab, the primary benefit of the modernisation is the increased cargo volumes, along with reduced downtime and enhanced operational performance. Additionally, the retrofit project encompassed the integration of advanced control systems and technology upgrades aimed at improving crane efficiency, safety, and maintenance capabilities.

The project highlights the growing trend of upgrading existing port equipment instead of replacing it entirely. For India, where major ports are expanding capacity and improving efficiency, similar crane retrofit programmes can help enhance cargo handling operations, optimise investment costs, and support the country’s long-term maritime infrastructure goals.
