Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) at the Port of Gdynia has received two new ship-to-shore quay cranes as part of its ongoing terminal expansion programme. The cranes, manufactured by ZMPC, are expected to be fully commissioned in June 2026 and will play a key role in strengthening container handling operations at the terminal.
The new cranes stand 140 metres high with their booms raised and feature a lifting height of 55 metres. They can reach across 25 rows of containers on a vessel and offer a lifting capacity of 65 tonnes under a spreader and 75 tonnes under a hook, allowing BCT to handle all container ships currently operating in the Baltic Sea.
BCT says the investment will boost operational efficiency and increase cargo-handling capacity. It will also support the terminal’s growing logistics needs. The project is part of a wider modernisation programme under Poland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. This aims to strengthen the Port of Gdynia’s competitiveness as a regional logistics hub.
